State Budget Passed. The Florida Legislature passed a $114.5 billion state budget after delays and a contentious session. Lawmakers also approved tax cuts as part of the budget package. Reports indicate that Big Bend lawmakers secured only a fourth of the state funding they sought in the budget.

DeSantis Appointments. Governor Ron DeSantis appointed three individuals to the Eastern Florida State College District Board of Trustees. The Governor also appointed two individuals to the Prison Rehabilitative Industries and Diversified Enterprises, Inc. Board of Directors. These appointments were announced by the Office of Governor Ron DeSantis.

Property Tax Plan. Questions surround Governor DeSantis’ property tax plan, with reports citing contradictions and confusion. Even experts are unsure about what the property tax exemption says. This comes as hurricane season begins, and the plan is being discussed alongside living shorelines initiatives.

Bondi and Epstein Files. Bondi shifted responsibility for the release of the Epstein files to Todd Blanche. This action has made Blanche a target for Democrats. Bondi has refused to answer lawmakers’ questions regarding Trump’s involvement in the release of the Epstein files.
